Is The Affilorama A Scam – Or Legit

Is the Affilorama a scam?  If you have never heard of Affilorama, it is an Affiliate Marketing training course. Affilorama was created by Mark Lind and has been teaching online affiliate marketing methods since 2005. It is offered as free course online with loads of information geared toward beginners and mid level affiliate marketers. This is a program I visited a few years back, and I wondered if this program still relevant today? Let’s take a deeper look.

  • Name   – Affilorama
  • Website – Affilorama.com
  • Price     – Free + upsells of $37,$97,$199,$997
  • Owners – Mark Ling
  • Quality – Good Free Information
  • Overall Rank – 5/10
  • Refunds – 60 Day Money Back Guarantee
  • Verdict – Legitimate / Too Expensive

What Is Affilorama – Is The Affilorama A Scam

Affilorama is a complete course that teaches beginners how to start, run, and grow a profitable online affiliate marketing business. It is good information for beginners and intermediate affiliate marketers. They offer their course for free online sign up, and offer a lot of basic information. The free version is a wealth of information to people who don’t know anything about Affiliate Marketing. They do have some upsells, but you can learn a lot of basics from the free material without purchasing the upsells. But, the free information is limited in scope, and doesn’t give all the juicy details. They are holding the good stuff back for offering in the upsells.

Affilorama has been around for awhile, and is still popular. People can join for free and learn about online Affiliate Marketing. There are over 100 training videos that give a basic view of online marketing. That is a lot of information to be getting at no cost, so there is some value there. The problem is, the methods shown always lead you to another product you will need to purchase to make it work.

If someone has no knowledge of how online marketing works, it would help build a foundation. Since 2005 to present, many things have changed on the internet, and some of this training does not apply anymore. I would highly recommend a training program like Wealthy Affiliate instead. The training is much easier to understand and guides you in a simple to follow step by step plan. You know what to do and when to do it, and your web hosting is included.

Pros

  • Free To Get Started
  • Video Tutorials
  • All You Need To Build A Website

Cons

  • Affilorama’s Programs Quite Expensive
  • Free Program Is limited
  • No Access To Founder

Does Affilorama Still Work Or Is The Affilorama A Scam?

The free version is good for beginners, but for advanced methods you will have to upgrade to premium for hosting, and upgrade again for advanced lessons. To do keyword research, Affilorama is using Mindmiester to form a list, then using another website called Traffic Travis.  I tried the Traffic Travis and found it to be slow and clunky to use. The link-builder function would not work.

If you are an advanced marketer, you would quickly realize that some of the methods that are taught, are actually older black hat methods. And when you are working with Google for SEO(search engine optimization) Black hat methods are bad, and do not work anymore. In fact, when Google brought out the Panda update, the rankings on many websites were destroyed over night. Websites that were doing great, now were totally useless. So, these methods are not recommended.

Backlinks that are created and not natural are a big no-no! I would caution anyone not to use any of these methods for your site. Years ago they were used all over the internet. But, using these techniques now could get you permanently banned! If you see backlinks being sold, stay away.

Affilorama Promotes PLR Content – Is The Affilorama A Scam

Affilorama also recommends using PLR (Private Label Rights) content in your affiliate marketing. So what actually is PLR content? PLR helps save time in creating content. It allows you to buy the rights to modify and claim ownership of materials. You can obtain PLR licenses for all sorts of content. This includes things like articles, eBooks, email newsletters, software, templates, video, audio and graphics.

But, let’s say you buy an article with PLR rights. Then you must rewrite the article in your own words to create original content. The problem is that some people will publish the article as is, without any changes.  That will hurt your site rankings. This is another big no-no in google. Duplicated content carries ranking penalties in addition to hurting your sites ranking. Even content that has been rewritten, may not rank well either. Googles algorithms are getting smarter everyday, and they can determine if content is original or not. So, if you are good at copywriting, then you can probably pull it off. If not, then you will definitely need to hire someone to rewrite it for you.

Personally, I would stay away from these techniques. Google sees this as a form of cheating called plagiarism. This produces the same content over and over again. Google wants fresh content, period.

Now, that being said. You can occasionally use other peoples content if you have their permission and you give credit for the use of the material if required to do so.

Is The Affilorama Products And Upsells A Scam?

Free version – gives you basic affiliate market information overview, but doesn’t give all the information needed. This leads you to buy the upsells.

Pathway to Passive guide – $37 If you sign up to the free account, you can get a discounted price of $19 that is good for three days. And include a 60 day money-back guarantee. If you are new to Affiliate marketing, it is a great start. But, if you are familiar with ClickBank and Affiliate Marketing, you may find it a waste of time. There are no juicy details or secrets given away. It is a guide on how to find a profitable niche, create compelling content to attract motivated customers, and converting them to willing buyers.

AffiloTools – $1 trial, then $97 per month – I personally didn’t seem to find the features of AffilioTools quite worth the cost. The link building possibilities, and the tracking of moz rankings, and social rankings are nice to know. But most of the other features are found in Google Analytics and Google Search for free. So, for beginner Affiliate Marketers, this is too expensive every month.

I personally would recommend a platform that I am a member of and still use today called Wealthy Affiliate. It is cheaper and the most popular platform on the internet today. And you get the basic Jaaxy keyword research tool for $19 a month, or premium version Jaaxy Enterprise included in their Premium Plus membership. It’s a better deal.

Is The Affilorama Products Currently Unavailable A Scam?

Affiliojetpack – $997 ( is currently unavailable at this time)  It appears that Affiliojet pack is being updated.

AffiloTheme – $97 is no longer available

Affilorama  Premium – $67 The monthly membership offering for training , tools, hosting, and the community for Affiliate Marketers is no longer available.

AffiloBlueprint – $197 Was offered as a one-time fee, similar to Affilorama Premium, is no longer available.

However, you can access Wealthy Affiliate’s entire program and all their training as soon as you sign up for their premium training. And have access to a huge online community available 24/7 in live chat.

At the time of this writing, is seems that Affilorama is undergoing some updates to their site. Some of their products are not available at this time. Once they get things straightened out, it should lead to a better product in the future. Meanwhile, Here is the features of Affilorama compared to Wealthy Affiliate.

Verdict – Legit But Not Recommended Thumbs Down Image for Not Recommended

As soon as you sign up with the free content, expect to get a ton of promotions from Mark Ling and his partners. They do heavy email promotions. If you don’t like that, and you are still interested in Affiliate Marketing, check out Wealthy Affiliate. They do not spam you with any promotions at all. and you have access to the training for FREE.

  1. I’ve heard of Affilorama before, but I’ve never read any such detailed review.
I joined Wealthy Affiliate some time ago as a complete beginner, with no previous experience with websites and affiliate marketing, and I am very pleased with all the knowledge and support I receive in WA, so I am not currently thinking of any other providers of this type of training. But it was interesting to learn all about Affilorama, a great presentation.
    Friendly greeting,

    • Hi Nina,

Thank you for your kind words. Affilorama has been around since 2005. I think that they are not sure what to do with the site. The claim they are updating their software, Only time will tell.

I am also a member of Wealthy Affiliates. They are the most popular Affiliate Training on the planet right now. I have been with Wealthy Affiliates for 5 years and i have no complaints.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment, and please stop back.

  2. Thanks for this information on Affilorama.

From what I am reading it would appear to be very expensive, for very little.  And could even be dangerous if people do not know that duplicated work does not go down well with Google.

I don’t like being part of something that takes you so far and then wants more money to take you to the next level.  That just puts me clean off.

I think Wealthy Affiliate is a great honest and open platform, so I would definitely recommend it over Affilorama.

    • Hi Geoff,

You are most welcome. I want to keep people informed as much as possible. Yes, the Affilorama program is expensive, and Mark Ling has dozens more programs that you will be spammed with once you sign up for the Affilorama free course. The upsells just keep coming!

Then, you are teased with enough information that only takes you so far. They are definitely gaming the system to sell you more and more products. Wealthy Affiliate does not do that. You will not be spammed about other programs. I agree that wealthy Affiliate is the better choice. It is my #1 Recommendation.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment, and please stop back.

  3. Thank you for your review for Affilorama, I came across this platform the other day and I just have to find out what is it all about. It is refreshing to hear that they do offer some useful free material but boy, I have to say that personally the upsells are too expensive for what I can afford at the moment. I am going to check Wealthy Affiliate out like you suggested!

    • Hi Nuttanee,

You are so welcome! They do have a lot of information for free, but it will only take you so far. The whole idea is to get your email address so they can blast your email box with spam!

The upsells that are shown are only a few of the many programs they will send you!

You made a wise choice going with Wealthy Affiliate. They are not going anywhere, and they are constantly improving their platform. You get a cheaper price, with free themes, websites and hosting included in your membership.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment, please stop back.

  4. Hi Chas
Thanks for sharing your review on the Affilorama Program. It is my good luck that I that have gone through your review before entering into the free Affilorama program. After going to the complete review I could sense that the training is outdated and not of much use in today’s fast changing Google Analytics .On the other hand your recommendation number 1 appears to be quite attractive and one can give a short of it to taste the real success
    Thanks and regards,

    • Hi Gaurav Gaur,

I am glad I could be of help to you. Yes, be careful of signing up for their free training, you will be spammed with many offers. Supposedly, Affilorama is in the process of updating their platform and tools. Time will tell.

Many people have found success at Wealthy Affiliate. And they don’t need any upsells. Everything you need is taught in the premium membership.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment, and please stop back.
